Real Estate Finance: it’s in our DNA

Chamberlain property finance

Finding the right candidates for the right lenders is impossible if you don’t understand the intricacies of real estate finance – it’s a specialist area that needs an expert recruiter.

There are many similarities in bankers’ skill sets and many dissimilarities in the types of lending, networks, and targets. For example, bankers who fund small residential BTL (buy-to-let) portfolios will have very different networks and skills from bankers who fund large commercial developments.

And it’s our extensive market knowledge that gives us the credibility and capability to find real estate finance talent across the UK.

The 10,000-hour rule

There’s a theory that you’re considered an expert after 10,000 hours of practice (roughly five years). So, 15 years of placing real estate finance talent across many levels and disciplines for a wide variety of clients (click here for more details) puts us firmly in the ‘expert’ category. And it’s one reason that almost all new business comes through referrals and that real estate finance represents over half of all our placements.

“A regular comment from candidates after I’ve briefed them on a potential role is: ‘you’ve already answered all my questions!’,” says Chris Notley, MD at Chamberlain. “And that’s because all my conversations with clients and candidates are detailed and steeped in knowledge.”

We speak the same language

We understand the differences between the types of real estate finance lending – commercial and residential, investment and development, the different types of institutions and the gap they fill in the market. And importantly, we understand the structures of our clients’ competitors, making a significant difference when recruiting for young banks and lenders.

We love playing a part in supporting a company’s growth and overall success, and we do this by introducing high-quality candidates matched precisely to individual business needs. We ask the right questions and know exactly where to look for those hard-to-find candidates. Also, our talent pool is constantly growing because REF experts approach us, looking for future roles that fit their skills and experience.

We’re values-driven

Our values capture the essence of who we are and what’s important for our business to succeed.

We are:

ENGAGING: always open and honest, offering a transparent view of current market conditions and salary expectations to support the growth and success of a business and a career.
DEPENDABLE: never promise what we can’t deliver. But we can always provide a workable solution if it’s an impossible ask.
COOPERATIVE: aim to provide exceptional service and deliver on complex briefs by working in close partnership with clients and candidates.
SUSTAINABLE: commit to long-term relationships and develop strong networks, enabling us to place the right personalities and skills for companies’ growth and success.

And what makes it all worthwhile?

Seeing our candidates go from strength to strength – safe in the knowledge that we got it right for that business.

It’s what makes us tick.
